Black Sea BLYTH – the Sandown Class Mincountermeasure Vessel BLYTH led NATO operations in the Mediterranean and Black Sea on the present deployment with Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 2.  Four (4) minecountermeasures vessels – the BLYTH together with the ITS MILAZZO (Italian), TCG EDREMIT (Turkish) and the FGS SULZBACH-ROSENBERG (German) started their deployment, designated Exercise Poseidon, with a two week exercise in the Black Sea.    The Black Sea operation saw the Group joined by ships of both the Romanian and Bulgarian Navies.     While in the area the ships visited Varna (Bulgaria) and Constanta (Romania).   Next for the Group was a transit into Mediterranean waters visoting Izmir (Turkey) and the BLYTH set sail independantly for the south of France by way of the Corinth Canal (Greece).
