RNAS Culdrose - An Olympic Challenge - RNAS Culdrose was the unconscious star of 'The One Show' (BBC1) where the Olympic Flame arrived from Greece, which was broadcast live from the end of a runway at the Naval Air Station.   The flame, which was ignited by the rays of the sun in a traditional ceremony in Greece at the Temple of Hera in Olympia (where the ancients once toiled), was carried around the Peloponnese, before arriving by air at RNAS Culdrose, and after an overnight stay at the Cornish air station, the flame was taken on a 20 mile flight to Land’s End by a SEA KING of 771 Naval Air Squadron, making a first journey within the British Isles.
