DIAMOND Through the Canal – The Type 45 Destroyer, DIAMOND, on maiden deployment East of Suez, has passed through the Suez Canal - it took 14 hours for the transit of the 100 mile canal.   The  Royal Marines Commando detachment onboard stood guard as the destroyer joined a large convoy of merchant vessels on the passage south into the Red Sea.
