Exercise Joint Warrior - the Fleet
Air Arm 'Junglies' were reunited with
US crews from their recent Libya operations
when meeting briefly at RNAS
Yeovilton in preparation for Exercise
Joint Warrior. 845 Naval Air Squadron hosted 30
personnel from the 56th Rescue Squadron
of the United States Air Force, who
brought with them two HH-60 PAVE HAWK search and rescue helicopters (a version
of the H-60 Blackhawk). Both units
were embarked on the Helicopter Carrier
OCEAN during Operation ELLAMY (Libya).
As part of their reunion the PAVE HAWK’s practised their skills using the Aviation Training Ship RFA ARGUS in the English Channel where they made 80 deck landings. The 56th
Rescue Squadron is based at RAF
Lakenheath (Suffolk) being part
of the United States Air Force in
Europe. Exercise Joint Warrior is the
largest bi-annual European naval exercise,
and will be hosted by the Royal Navy
off the west coast of Scotland.
