Apaches Return for Naval Service – Amid some bluster it was announced that three (3) APACHE gunships crews from 656 Squadron Army Air Corps joined the Helicopter Carrier ILLUSTRIOUS to refresh their knowledge of operating the aircraft at sea.   The effectiveness of the APACHE was demonstrated last year working off the coast of Libya.     Also embarked on ILLUSTRIOUS by the training squadron of the Commando Helicopter Force, 848 Naval Air Squadron with it’s the SEA KING HC4 helicopters.
