617 Squadron Into A New Generation – the iconic “Dambusters Squadron” currently at Lossiemouth and flying TORNADO GR.4 is the re-equip with the LIGHTNING 11 F-35B and will be based at RAF Marham (Norfolk).    The present 617 Squadron is due to disband on the 1^st April 2014 and the new 617 Squadron is due to stand up in 2016 and will be manned by RAF and RN personnel and will be followed later by a similarly joint Naval Air Squadron flying the new jump jet.
