Lack of a Maritime Reconnaissance Capability - With the 13th longest coastline of any country in the world the lack of a maritime reconnaissance capability is coming home to the politicians seemingly at last.     The House of Commons Defence Committee is conducting an inquiry into Future Maritime Surveillance and as part of the written evidence taken one document lists the countries with the 30 longest coastlines, together with the maritime patrol aircraft operated by each country - the UK is the only country in the top 20 that does not protect its borders in this way.     A fact of current naval life which only the blind cannot see!
