DEFENDER Defends – The Type 45 Destroyer DEFENDER has been undergoing intensive trials in the Channel, the high point of which was some gunnery practice in rough seas off the South Coast,    The fifth Type 45 Destroyers has been testing every radars, engines, computer systems, radios and pretty much everything else.    Only the SEA VIPER “main armament” remains untested and is typically fired just before deployment.     The DEFENDER is affiliated to the cities of Glasgow and Exeter, will be formally commissioned into the Royal Navy in March 2013.
